Melissa's Dress Up Box : What to Wear for Autumn/Winter 2014

Following on from my last post I want to continue to discuss this seasons trends for Autumn/Winter with more items worth investing in.

The Coat - Seems obvious for winter really but believe or not coats were not high fashion for awhile, especially as jackets (particularly leather) took centre stage. And although the leather jacket (mostly the biker style is still huge and we will talk about that soon) the coat is a big investment piece again.
Consider a patterned, cocoon, over-sized, boxy or coloured coat if you already have a great black, camel or grey one (those are always good buys!) and a must have for any wardrobe is of course the trusty Trench Coat which is a fabulous trans-seasonal piece and then works just as well with warm clothes underneath once it gets cold.

If you already have some basic coats or you have the money to spend then why not try a cobalt, yellow or pastel pink coat? Animal print is also huge (and let's face it, never really dates). Stripes, check, tweed and houndstooth are also great investments.

Leather - this has been a major trend both summer and winter in the last few years so if you invested then well done, you will be getting your money's worth! If you are opposed to leather or you have a budget restraint then there are also some great faux leather options around these days. It is worth investing if you can however. Leather (esp.biker styles) jackets, leggings and midi skirts are the most popular and the best investment will always be a jacket in my opinion.

Faux Fur - Is still trending and always makes you feel glamourous! If your not confident wearing a fur coat then why not try a fur collar or even a fur bag tail!
